About St. Paul's Episcopal Church
St. Paul's was founded in 1851 near the falls of the Willamette River in Oregon City. Since that time generations of people have sought solace, inspiration, and community in this sacred space.
We are not the perfect church, we are not perfect people, we have our bright sides and our growing edges...but we endeavor each and every week to seek God's will for our church and our personal lives. We know that the only way to become more loving and more graceful is to bask in the love and grace of God.
As an Episcopal Church, we take comfort in the ancient way that we worship. Each week we worship in the way that our forebears did. We sing, read from the Bible, pray together, and have Communion. While our history informs us and inspires us, it does not define us. We are a church that is looking toward the future with hope. We value both ancient wisdom and modern thought. We believe that the world is full of wonder and value. There is much that can be discovered by science, art and technology....but everything, including these disciplines, must be fully appreciated within the context of spirituality.
At St. Paul's we believe that God is more merciful than judgmental, more accepting than we could understand, and more loving than we can comprehend. Here, everyone is welcome regardless of race, marital status, sexual orientation or level of faith.
